But the war he had started in Spain and Portugal, with his ill judged invasion the previous year continued to rage. Napoléon has placed his own brother : Joseph, on the Spanish throne. Tasked with creating a new army of Spaniards from volunteers, the new Spanish army continually routs the forces of the old kingdom, and supresses guerilla insurrections, with the help of its faithful French ally.
