The Kingdom of Sicily was a minor nation which was usually occupied under the British throughout the whole Napoleonic period. French influence was kept onto mainland Italy due to the British naval domination in the Mediterranean, deterring any attempts at controlling the Kingdom of Sicily. After the Congress of Vienna, the Kingdom of Sicily and the Kingdom of Naples had been unified as one, the Kingdom of Two Sicilies, which would exist until 1861.
