Hesse-Darmstadt was a member of Napoleon's Confederation of the Rhine during the Napoleonic Wars. Having fought throughout the war and served in multiple campaigns such as in Spain and in Russia. Hesse fought alongside the French up until their defeat at Leipzig where the Confederation was dissolved.
