The Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) is one of the original five Navy bxureaus formed in 1842 under the Department of the Navy. BUMED exerts authority over all medical care facilities, biomedical research, and medical personnel under the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. We currently host four of the six staff corps, the hospital corps, the nurse corps, the medical service corps and the medical corps.
