Once you have been elevated to the 3° Master Mason in the Symbolic Lodge, you may then choose which Rite to join, either become apart of the Shriners International, join the York Rite, Scottish Rite, or the Rite of Memphis-Misraim which will all be their own separate 'branch' groups later, see Affiliated PM groups!
