By the secession of Southern States, Texas had no choice but to either remain isolated with the North or join the South. Asserting that the U.S. Constitution had been violated and that the federal government was now in the hands of our enemies, we, the delegates of Texas, have passed an ordinance dissolving all political connections with the U.S. No longer able to depend on the Union for protection, Texas now looks only to God and her own sons to defend her destiny as an independent state. Make the Lone Star shine bright and pick up arms for Texas!
