Shortly after the first major Confederate victory at Bull Run, General Joseph E. Johnston took command of the Confederate force in northern Virginia. This army underwent significant reorganization and development to become an effective and professional fighting force by early-mid 1862.

The Army of Northern Virginia, officially named in June 1862 when Robert E. Lee assumed command, would play a pivotal role in the Eastern Theater. It participated in significant battles and campaigns extending from the Seven Days Battles through the final moments of the Appomattox Campaign.

We're set during the Battle of Chancellorsville primarily,
