Atlantic Ocean Line was founded in 1834 as a sailing packet. They would sail chartered clipper ships until 1867 when the Royal Bank of Liverpool closed. They were then bought by a new owner who switched from sail to steam. Ships would make trans-Atlantic crossings and also cruises until 2008 when they collapsed. In 2013 their parent company would open a floating hotel on their former ship, S.S City Of Liverpool.
