The Panthers Guard was founded on May 2, 1992, and from May to July 1, 1992, it was called the "National Guard of the Serbian Autonomous Region (SAO) Semberija and Majevica." The unit was part of the East Bosnian Corps. She changed her name to "Pantera", in honor of the deceased Branko Pantelić-Pantera.
