Description

Following the decline of Rome, the Eastern empire endured for an impressive 1600 years. Weathering assaults from the Turks vying for control of Asia Minor, the Byzantines persevered, asserting influence in the Balkans and the Middle East, becoming a guiding force in the Orthodox realm. 

Even into the 1940s, the Byzantines stood as the enduring legacy of the second Rome, eventually becoming the Imperium of Aquilliana.
