EST. 2/28/20 The Penn Central Transportation Company, commonly abbreviated to PC, was an American Class I railroad that lasted from February 1st 1968 to March 31st 1976. Penn Central was comprised of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central. The New Haven Railroad would be included into the Penn Central conglomerate on January 1st 1969. Penn Central Ran through sixteen states and two Canadian provinces, making it the largest rail network in the world at the time based on miles of track.
