The Habsburgs were a powerful hereditary lineage rooted in Switzerland. Through decisive measures in diplomacy and conquest, the Habsburgs became heirs to a vast empire spanning from Belgium in the West, Naples in the South, Bohemia in the North, and Transylvania to the East; their power and influence allowed them to stay pertinent to European politics for many centuries.

Imperial hegemony has been threatened by external powers who seek the fall of the Habsburgs. The fate of the Empire lies in the hands of the heiress of Habsburg hegemony; Maria Theresia and her consort, Francis of Lorraine. Will the empire of Charlemagne endure? History shall tell.
