During the Colonization Wars, the separatists on Titan developed the Nekomata as part of a series of illegal genetic experiments. Desperate to gain an edge, separatist scientists engineered numerous chimeras despite the strict ban on genetic manipulation at the time. Among these creations, the Nekomata proved to be a breakthrough. Agile, swift, and highly adaptable, they excelled as assassins, often deployed in high-stakes missions targeting key figures on Mars and its surrounding outposts.

As Earth Federation forces eventually withdrew from the outer colonies, the separatists’ rebellion succeeded in part due to the Nekomata’s efficiency. In a surprising turn, the Nekomata were granted their freedom and control of Titan, where they established their own independent society, no longer bound by their creators' control.
