The Undersmellers planned for years their revenge upon the Overseer, when the time finally came to execute their plan, they were betrayed by one of their own. Regardless the Undersmeller launched a mighty subterranean attack force. They sprung from beneath the large Overseer cities, and destroyed nearly everything in their path, with this the Overseer had nearly fallen, alas, they weren't thorough enough, as some survived to rebuild.
