Roman "Legio XI Claudia" Scutum Shield

For Limitanei and light cavalry.

After the reforms of Diocletian, Legio XI Claudia was split into 3 parts. The Limitanei Branch was stationed in modern-day Bulgaria. This group of Limitanei saw some of the most fierce fighting of the 4th Century, taking part in many of the battles against the barbarians, including Adrianople. The original shield of these men is sadly lost to history, but we have based their shield off of Legio XI Claudia as it is featured in the Legionary books.
